In 1959,many houses alongshore the Sheui-li river were destroyed by the 87 flood disaster and the following 81 flood disaster. The residents went to Che-cheng Elementary School for refuge. After that, the government helped the residents rebuild their houses at the slope ground which we call the old Street of Che-cheng today. From that time, we put these three parts of Che-cheng(outside Che-cheng,inside Che-cheng and the prior street) together and give it a new name Che-cheng.
